(➡️ swipe for the full series) I love shooting bull riding from the roof at Clovis. The first time I was able to do it was 2011, and these are from Friday and Sunday. On Saturday I shot from the ground, and those pictures are 💤

➡️➡️This was the second bull ride of the first rodeo I was able to shoot from the dirt. When ol Ned Kelly was bearing down on me, I remember thinking about all the effort expended by people trying to keep me outside the fence. Then I went and bought a ladder because this is what I do.

Pictures like this are cooler than regular bucking pictures. Prove me wrong.

(➡️ swipe for the full series) Wide and close is my favorite way to shoot pretty much anything. This was 2010 at Red Bluff, and I shot a whole section of bareback at 14mm from behind the chutes. All the other rides produced nice picture of guys getting ready to ride, but didn’t result in any good action. I think this was the last ride, and I almost missed it because I had not yet figured out that you just follow the judges. So I got there just in time for Jared to get his glove in his riggin and then as soon as he nodded, the horse (Blackhawk Blaze of Flying U) blew straight up and Jared’s hat flew off, but somehow stayed in the frame.
